my last self-reflective essay

at the very beginning of my first university year, I experienced a new educational method, connected with Internet. I mean posting in LiveJournal. I had some blogs in LJ and similar resources before, so it wasn`t difficult for me to use it. I`m entirely FOR blogs in English learning and teaching, because it`s the simplest way for making your tasks (without printing, writing etc), and you can do your work at convenient time and there won`t be problems for teacher how to check your works. The only argument against is that not everybody has personal computer and Internet at home, but if you are such a student, you could just use a computer-class in your university.
my personal use of Internet for the purpose of learning and teaching (not only English)usually concludes Lingvo online and Wikipedia (here I can find information almost about everything I need).
Now about topics we have studied. Unfortunately, I were ill a lot of time and missed some topics, but I studied it at home carefully, so I could say smth about it.
I have textbooks of methodics for all these topics, so it was not such a difficult thing to find texts to read, but there was some problems with presentations: there are not much reference sources connected with Italy, I found much more about UK, USA, Germany and France. But finally I found everything I need. For me the most interesting theme was Health Care, because I`m really interested in medicine, Health Systems of foreign countries etc. And the "worst" theme was maybe Social Affairs: it was rather difficult for me to REALISE what means "social affairs". But when I did it was really interesting to read about homeless people and poverty around the world.
The simplest topic was Diplomacy and the most difficult - Geography, because we should learn by heart a lot of geographical names.
I can say at the end of my first year about English learning and teaching that unfortunately I haven`t pass the planned program because of my operations, so to the next generation of the first year students I could recommened the only thing: visit all lessons!
wanna

social affairs

one of my friends works in social organization, helping old peoples, so I know something about social affairs in Russia pretty much.
in my opinion, such services are necessary in country, where old people are significant part of population. she says that they help, for example, wash windows, cook smth, bring products, clean the flat etc. Also, arises psychological links between pensioners and people helping them. Sure, there are some volunteers, but overwhelming quantity of employees gets salary for their work.
there is some German Organization, sponsoring another organization in Russia, which help homeless children find their parents or arrange them to orphanages, help with clothes, money, education etc
children and old people are the most vulnerable categories of population, so firstly its necessary to care about them.

wanna

health care

as a person, experienced 6 operations during last few years, I decide to write about quality of medical assistance, hospital`s service, conditions and doctors professionalism in russian medical centers.
After my operations I laid in 3 different hospitals: in two public hospitals and in the private one. So I`ll tell through the comparison.
At first, about medical assistance (everything I`m writing here is not some official data, but my own opinion): the best assistance was in those public hospital I laid this year: the nurses were attentive and well-trained, injections weren`t so painful, medicaments were included. In private hospital, however, level of medical assistance isn`t well below, but in first public hospital it was awful!
Hospital`s services, sure, are much more better in private hospital: tasty food, 24-hour services and so on and so forth, but in my last hospital services wasn`t bad actually.
Then about conditions: in all three hospitals I was in double chamber, but last 5 times I was in those chambers alone.
And as for doctors professionalism, I suppose, that there are no links between type of hospital and level of doctors professionalism.
Finally, I would like to note, that health care in Russia is very high quality and efficient.
wanna

employment

speaking about employment, i decided to choose topic, connected with Russia, because I`ve been trying to find a place with a partial employment in Saint-Petersburg during period of time about a month and the result wasn`t so good. Spheres, where youth could find a place (I mean partial employment, because full-day is unavailable because of school, university etc)are usually connected with two areas: food and clothes. I mean, that a girl or a guy in "teen" age commonly has a choice between the place of a waiter\waitress or a seller-adviser. Better way maybe is to work on parents, relatives or some friends, but teenagers usually aspire to independence because of frequent quarrels with their parent and there are also children from poor families, or from orphanage or even from shelters, so there is no way in spite of working hard for little salary or the second way, the worst one of possible: to step to the way of crime and prostitution. The second way seems easier for person who doesn`t realize real dangers and abnormalities of this way.
So, I`m really disturbed by this problem and I`m sure, that authorities MUST create some labour exchanges for teenagers (both pupils or students), finding fitting workplace with partial employment!
wanna

education

speaking about systems of education, I can suggest one interesting topic. I mean education abroad, especially summer schools in UK, Sweden, Germany etc. I suppose that such type of education could be something like "two in one", firstly because of studying both some subjects and language of a country you going to (usually it`s English, but German and French are also popular ones) and also because of huge amount of useful and exclusive attainments about culture, history, traditions and common life of the country of purpose. But there are not only educational advantages in summer schools abroad. You can also get acquainted with some interesting people and therefore in future you may have foreign friends and international links, and you can visit the most attractive places of this country, or "places of interest".
As for me, I visited Summer School in the United Kingdom some years ago and it was amazing experience for me. I remember the best task: we went to some small town by bus, than our teacher said us to go and fill some questionnaire about this town by asking citizens. We had just 30 minutes and almost 100 questions, but it was so ridiculous!!!
As a result, I have few friends from Spain and one italian boy, who`s become very close friend of mine.

european culture.religious affiliation

The culture of Europe might better be described as a series of overlapping cultures. Whether it is a question of West as opposed to East; Christianity as opposed to Islam; many have claimed to identify cultural fault lines across the continent. There are many cultural innovations and movements, often at odds with each other, such as Christian proselytism or Humanism. Thus the question of "common culture" or "common values" is far more complex than it seems.

In my essay I would like to describe religious situation in Europe, because religion is still one of the most significant components of a cultural life of the Europe.

traits of character.

At one of my english lessons last week we played a game: "Are we the kind of people we are because of the time of the year we were born? See if you can complete the adjectives below..."
Such descriptions was about capricorn: considerable, tender, gentle, generous, tolerant, understanding, projective, affectionate, thoughtful. As a result, I've decided, that my parents've been lying  for years)))) everything is wrong, NOTHING is right. By those portraits, I'm sagittarius: passionate, hot-blooded, brave[I hope], adventurous[I'm sure], lively[everybody could see], dedicated, devoted...
In my opinion, the most important trait of my character is lively, energetic: for me it's happiness-to run everywhere, to do everything, to scurry! But sometimes I'm gloomy and depressed: it every-time happens, when I'm ill and must sit at home doing nothing, like this week.
But I can't  assert, that I'm free-for-all person, just easy-going: communication with everybody is interesting and attractive, but nobody could know everything about me.
Sincerely for few, I'm close for others, so it staggers belief that I'm interested in communication.
Maybe it'll be better to change something, but now everything is rather okay)
